Its the start of the jump season today from Chepstow and that’s where I have focused my attention on.
The race in question is the 4:10 Blue square Bet handicap hurdle. You will not find a better handicapped horse than ROYAL CHARM, especially with Harry Derham taking 7lbs off.
ROYAL CHARM sits on a handicap mark of 133 today with the jockey taking off 7lbs so really a mark of 126.
Previously he won off a mark of 137 comfortably by 8 lengths and the key to this horse is the going. Given soft ground he can really come into himself. Exactly what he will get today.
He has only once got his given ground since his last win but ran below par that day. I will excuse that run as don’t think he really took to fences and back over hurdles you will see a different horse. Paul Nicholls actually rates this horse highly and there is no doubt he is a much better horse than his current handicap mark suggests given the right conditions.
12/1 is massive get on early as can’t see this lasting.
