My selection today comes from Ayr in the Silver Cup 2:40.

COLONEL MAK will take some beating here at Ayr. For me is a course specialist. He has been to the track 3 times in total. First time was back in 2010 when he won this very race off a mark of 93 at odds of 33/1. He is only 2lb higher than that win today on a mark of 95.

Next time he visited the track a year later, was for the Ayr Gold cup where he finished a very decent 4th on mark of 99. That was a top class run as the field was full of high class horses.

COLONEL MAK returned in 2012 for a 2nd crack at the Ayr Gold Cup. He ran another cracker finishing 5th again the field full of classy horses. Again he ran off 99.

He returns today to have a crack at the race he won 3 years ago. I think the trainer David Barron knows he would of run another decent race had he gone for the Gold Cup but instead puts him in the lesser class, silver cup. I think this is a top decision and I can honestly say I cannot see how he finishes out of the frame.

He appreciates cut in the ground and although some will say the draw is not good, for me its all about pace around him and he does have plenty.

He has come back to form at just the right time with his last 2 runs and is pretty much spot on for tomorrow. I am happy at the 11/1 available for a horse who loves the track, loves this type of ground, loves this race. I am super confident about a big run from COLONEL MAK. This is an E/W selection.

Good Luck
