3:55 Great St Wilfrid Stakes – Ripon

I have been through this race quite few times in the last week looking at all different angles. I then went through today in even more detail and as much as I wanted to, I simply couldn’t get away from the favourite.

Where else can I start, it has got to be with the favourite ORION’S BOW. Those who have been with me a while will know I like to stay away from the favourites in big handicap’s unless I am supremely confident and ORION’S BOW ticks every single box. In fact I can’t believe he is as big 5/1 as I make him 11/4 favourite. I honestly believe he is that far ahead of the field. He put in an amazing performance last time out in the Stewards Cup to finish 2nd of 27. He was sent off 6/1 that day and that was a much tougher race than today’s. This is how I have based my own price of 11/4. Apart from a couple of horses which he is facing today the others are nothing compared to the tough handicappers he faced in the Stewards Cup. What a training performance David Nicholls has put in with this horse this season. Before the Stewards Cup he rattled up 5 wins on the bounce all in impressive style. He has gone up the handicap but his last performance showed he is worthy of the rating. His draw in 9 will be ok as it will enable him to sit just in behind the leaders on the far side before making his move 1 furlong out. The acceleration this horse has shown this season has been pneumonual and it will take a good horse to catch once he do go. WIN.
