ELARQAM 9/4 generally – 2 POINT WIN
Before opening up the betting I priced this race up and made ELARQAM clear favourtie at 6/4. When I opened up the betting I was totally shocked to find him available at a best priced 9/4. Wow just Wow. Before going into more detail, I am not sure why Telecaster is fighting for favouritism with ELARQAM, as our selection easily finished ahead of him in a Group 3 in June. Telecaster might have won at Longchamp last month but what did he beat?
I will probably get egg on my face here but I am never one to hold back when I am supremely confident. It is my job at the end of the day and we are all here for one thing, to make big profits. I will go as far to say, I will be very surprised if ELARQAM cannot win this race.
He won this race last year by 3 lengths, beating the excellent Addeybb. He then ran York again following this race last year, in the Group 1 Juddmonte Stakes, coming home an excellent 3rd to Japan and Crystal Ocean.
York is his course, he loves it around here and his form reads 1313 at the course.
His first start this season was when 2nd to Lord North in a group 3 at Haydock. That form obviously looks top class as Lord North went and won the group 1 Prince Of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot.
ELARQAM went for the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot stepping up to 1m 4f for the first time. It was a trip I never thought ELARQAM would get and even said it in my write up for that race, when tipping the winner Fanny Logan. He is far too keen to run over 1m 4f and today’s trip of 1m 2 1/2f is the absolute perfect trip for him.
I think he will win this race and win it well. Mark Johnson has his horses cherry ripe at this time of year and as far as I am concerned it is his race to lose. WIN.
