MASTER TOMMYTUCKER 15/8 with Paddy Power and Betfair – 1.5 POINTS WIN
Another Paul Nicholls runner who got a massive confidence booster last time out at Huntingdon when beating Precious Cargo in a two runner race. It was exactly what he needed as he is a horse who fell on 3 of his last 5 starts. MASTER TOMMYTUCKER is actually a very good jumper but just had a concentration lapse a few times. He has now had two runs this season and has stood up on both occasions. His form of his first run looks decent as he was 2nd to Al Dancer, who went and finished 3rd in the Paddy Power Gold Cup last week. This is a horse who has all the potential in the world and if putting it together on any given day, is a proper Grade 1 horse. He showed that when still travelling well when falling in the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novice Chase last December. Not sure he would have won but I am sure he would have been involved. 
His competition comes from Good Boy Bobby and Dashel Drasher and I think Good Boy Bobby will struggle to stay with a proper front runner in Dashel Drasher in the race, taking him on for the lead. I think it will set the race up perfectly for MASTER TOMMYTUCKER who will tuck in 3rd place before being moved into contention with 2 fences left. WIN.
 

2:05 Ascot

BLACK CORTON 11/2 generally – 1 POINT WIN
A fascinating 4 runner race where all eyes will be on Real Steel, Imperial Aura and even Itchy Feet with not many taking notice of BLACK CORTON. Our selection has it all to do to beat some every good horses but I think this race could really suit him. He is going to get an uncontested lead here as none of the others will want to make the running. Given he stays further than today’s trip of 2m 5f, Bryony Frost may let him stride on and make it a real test of stamina. I am sure those will be the instructions if I am being honest as that is the only way he wins the race and surely these professionals will know and put it to practice. If BLACK CORTON gets into a rhythm he could be hard to peg back. He also gets weight from the field despite being 2nd highest rated horse in the field. He has had one start this season at this course 3 weeks ago when 4th of 14 to Regal Encore, carrying top weight. He should come on for that race and be a trip fitter. He also went for a wind operation over the Summer which may have improved him again. WIN.
