It didn’t quite come off with the free tips yesterday where we selected a couple of races at random, to give away for free.
We had tips in 9 races and if you were part of the full time or festival service, you would have enjoyed 25/1 WINNER – MONTE CRISTO.
This is the write up that we sent customers yesterday, even if I do say so myself, the angle I took was a excellent. It goes to show we don’t miss a trick and leave no stone unturned.
This is what we sent out yesterday:
MONTE CRISTO looks a big price and massively overpriced. He is only a 4 year old who is still highly progressive. He came to Nicky Henderson after winning a decent handicap in France and made his debut in the UK at Cheltenham for the Grade 2 Triumph Hurdle trial, when sent off 10/11 fav. Things didn’t quite work out that day but what it tells me is Henderson thinks the horse is talented. He was a winner a month later at Newbury when going from the front. Following the race, Henderson said ”we can’t get to ride a race as he always finishes up front but you would like to ride a race on him one day and teach him a bit”. By that he means he pulls himself to the front and he needs to be sat behind horses in a real race, in order for him to learn and progress. Henderson also said he is a weak horse who has a lot of developing to do. That is a sign of a horse who has so much left to give, he just needs to mature as a horse and a little time. That was back in February so you would think with a summer behind him, he would be a better horse this season.
His first start this season came at Aintree and just like Henderson said in his previous start, he needed to race properly in order to learn. He was put at the back of the field, made some headway but weakened 2 hurdles out. It was clearly what Nicky Henderson had planned and MONTE CRISTO would have learned so much.
He has come down the handicap from 136 to 133 since and given his age, given his potential, given who his trainer is, that mark could be tiny and he could quite easily make a mockery of his huge price. E/W.

CALL ME LYREEN 14/1 with Paddy Power and Betfair – 0.5 POINTS E/W
All eyes are on the front two in the market Ballyadam and Apprecaite It. Both horses are excellent and have a alot of ability but with everyone looking towards those two, it has left huge value in a horse called CALL ME LYREEN, trained by Gordon Elliott. He comes here unbeaten from 3 starts and after winning on his debut, Gordon Elliott mentioned ‘he had to be a nice horse to win like that on his debut”. He clearly caught connections out as if he was not expected to win. He then went and won at Sligo before winning a Grade 2 at Naas last month. He is progressing all the time and at the price he is one I want on my side as if the two market leaders are on an off day, he is one horse who looks to have the class to go close. Whether he will have the class of Appreciate It and Ballyadam we will have to find out but CALL ME LYREEN may surprise a few here. E/W.

SATURNAS 33/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
What a price SATURNAS is at a huge 33/1. Massive value given he was 2nd in a Kerry National back in September 2018. He was then injured and was off the track for a whopping 815 days before returning at Navan at the start of the month over a trip short of his best. He travelled well for a long way before hitting the 4th last fence and emptied quickly. I personally feel he was given an easy ride after and not put into the race, with bigger days ahead, such as today’s race. This is a smart horse on his day and a former Grade 1 winner over hurdles a few years back. He should come on leaps and bounds for his last run, following such a long lay off and I think he is way overpriced.
