1:40 York

COUNT D’ORSAY 11/2 generally – 0.75 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
JAWWAAL 8/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)

We have 2 strong fancies in this race.

As always with these sprints I look for where the pace is and this race has a strong pace angle from stall 8 – 18. Musika is in stall 8, Copper Knight is in 9, Mid Winster (12), Kind Review (16), Sunday Sovereign (17), Autumn Flight (18). Straight away we can see that any horse drawn in between 8 and 18 and likes plenty of pace to come off, will get a perfect toe into the race.
I think this race is going to be set up perfectly for COUNT D’ORSAY drawn in 14 and JAWAAL drawn in 11. Both are top of the market but as race planning goes, this race could not pan out any better for them.

COUNT D’ORSAY will enjoy the little bit of cut in the ground and any more rain which falls will certainly be appreciated. He was a very good winner at Haydock last season when beating a good horse in Came From The Dark who is now rated 108. He then came 2nd to the same horse when they returned to Haydock 3 weeks later. His final start of last season was when beaten just a head at Catterick in a competitive handicap, off today’s mark 99.
He disappointed on his first start of the season at Musselburgh but ran a good race last week at Chester when finishing like a train, from a bad draw.
I expect COUNT D’ORSAY to improve for that run and given he has bags of pace around him, you should see him finishing off his race very well. E/W.

JAWWAAL is a horse who just kept improving last season and came away with a win at Ascot off a mark of 90. He is a very smooth traveller through a race and the faster the pace, the better he travels. The pace around him is just absolutely perfect. After his win last season he was raised to 98 and although he never won again, he did run with credit a few times. He reappeared at Beverley last month and although 7th of 9, he was beaten only 3 lengths. That race would have put him spot on for this and with him now down to a mark of 95, this is well within range. E/W.

Good Luck
