NINA THE TERRIER 7/4 generally – 2 POINT WIN
My NAP of the winter festival at Newbury is NINA THE TERRIER. She beat both Ahorsewithnoname and Elle Est Belle last time out at Newbury and she opposes them here. When beating them just over 3 weeks ago she had to give both horses 7lb yet today she only has to give them 3lb, so is 4lb better off at the weights. NINA THE TERRIER showed a smart turn of foot that day and if the same horse turns up here, I fail to see how she doesn’t do the same now, meeting both on better terms. She has progressed massively on both starts this season and I think she is a smart horse and certainly the one they have to beat. WIN.
12:40 Newbury
AHOY SENOR 13/8 generally – 2 POINT WIN
Two races in a row and this is my second best bet of the meeting with AHOY SENOR. I am normally reserved with staking and don’t like to give too much away but if the bet and confidence is there, I have to go with it, as simple as that. AHOY SENOR is easily the best horse in this race and I can’t believe he is not odds on. 13/8 to me is literally a steal especially with bits of rain coming overnight, it will only enhance his chances. This is a horse who beat Bravemansgame fair and square at Aintree last season over hurdles and just Bravemansgame, he is every bit a chaser. Whatever he did over hurdles was a bonus as chasing would always be his game. He has had one start over fences when falling last time out, when still in contention. He jumped really well up to that point so it was just one of them things and not because he is a bad jumper. The trip was also short of his best and this step up to 3 miles will be where you see him at his best. I am very confident he wins this with a clear round of jumping. WIN.
