BANBRIDGE 5/2 generally – 1.5 POINTS WIN
BANBRIDGE should take all the beating here following his win at the Cheltenham Festival in the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle. He is up to 3 miles and that should bring out further improvement. This is not the strongest Grade 1 race and it won’t take much winning. Joseph OBrien has a very smart horse on his hands here who will be a fantastic chaser next season but in the meantime should be winning this comfortably. WIN.
5:15 Aintree
WASHINGTON 13/2 generally – 0.75 POINTS E/W (5 places, 1/5 odds)
WASHINGTON has been threatening to win for quite a while and got his head in front last time out at Southwell in good fashion. That will do his confidence no harm whatsoever. It follows a 3rd to Barrichello when travelling well but making a mistake at the last. Two starts back he again travelled like the winner but didn’t see it out and even against I Like To Move It in November, he travelled ever so well. I expect him to keep on improving and his handicap mark of 127 looks very workable. He will once again travel well into the race and this is time you are going to see him saunter clear on the run in.
