COUNT D’ORSAY 14/1 Paddy Power and Betfair – 0.75 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
I find COUNT D’ORSAY an interesting runner here given where he is drawn in stall 2. The first thing I do when going through races like this is find out where the pace is coming from and the main pace in the race is coming from stall 3, 4 7 and 21. With COUNT D’ORSAY drawn in 2 and a horse who likes to come from off the pace, he should get a lovely toe into the race from those front runners. You could argue that he is better over 5f which may well be true but given how he ran last time out when finishing like a rocket at Chester, despite losing lots of ground at the start, you have to feel that now a year older, 6f could now be his trip. Besides his form over 6f is decent enough with a 6th of 24 in the Ayr Gold Cup back in September. He would need a career best off a mark of 96 but we do have fitness on our side. At the prices he is a horse who I feel is overpriced. E/W.
