SATURDAY 11th JUNE FREE TIPS
Today we are giving out free tips in 2 races. These have been chosen at random from our tips sent out to full time members, in 6 races.
3:40 York
ATOMIC LADY 12/1 generally – 0.75 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
ROACH POWER 10/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
We have 2 Tim Easterby tips in this race. Both horses like to get on with things which bodes well in 6f races at York and both are drawn where I would want them, away from high draws. Obviously that draw advantage could change here but from past races low to middle seems to be the place and for those who race prominent.
ATOMIC LADY is our first and strongest fancy. She is having her first start of the season so we are taking a chance that she has progressed as a 3 year old but at the same time she could be very well handicapped on a mark of 91. He form around York is also excellent with a 1st and 2nd from two outings at the course. On her penultimate start last season at York she was 2nd to Ever Given, beaten a neck and that horse is now rated 108. That form looks very eye-catching.
Her final start as at Ripon in August when coming home 3rd to Flotus who is now rated 111. Again the form looks top class. Tim Easterby can get a horse ready and I think she ATOMIC LADY is massively overpriced. E/W.
Right at the bottom of the handicap is ROACH POWER also trained by Tim Easterby and he is a horse who could still be well handicapped on a mark of 80. He is a strong travelling horse and if he can find an extra kick inside the final furlong, with just 8st 4lb on his back he could go away from them. Given how well he travels I would like to see him get some cover just behind the leaders before being pulled out for a strong run. ROACH POWER also likes to race up with the pace and has a decent draw. Overpriced and should be thereabouts. E/W.
7:45 Leicester
DOUX ESPRIT 10/3 generally – 1.25 POINTS WIN
Last weekend we got a nice winner with Royal Champion at an SP of 14/1 and that was on the basis of Roger Varian’s excellent record when his horses were having their first start in a handicap. Today DOUX ESPRIT is having his first start in a handicap for the same owners as Royal Champion. He ran a cracker last time at Chester to come home 2nd in a Novice Stakes and lines up here rated just 80. I am confident he is a better horse than 80 and Roger Varian can keep his excellent record with horses running in a handicap for the first time.
Just to put those stats into perspective, over the last year he has had 57 horses have handicap debut’s and 30 of them have placed (53%). That tells me that DOUX ESPRIT has to go close here and I would be surprised if he was not involved in the finish. Going up the extra furlong to 1m should also help. WIN.
