5:00 Britannia Stakes
MR MCCANN 66/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W ( 5 places, 1/5 odds)
I can’t believe the price on MR MCCANN at 66/1. Yes he is at the top of the handicap but Hugo Palmer has booked James McDonald who is arguably the best jockey in the world at the minute. He has had 3 rides at Royal Ascot this week and has come away with 2 winners on Nature Strip and Dark Shift, giving both horses absolute peachs of a ride. The form of MR MCCANN is also excellent and he could be a group horse running in a handicap here. He was 4th to Maljoom last month in the German 2000 guineas and that horse was an unlucky loser of the St James Palace Stakes yesterday. Last season this horse was also 4th to the excellent Native Trail in a Group 2 at Newmarket again showing us that he is a top class horse. I can see him running a big race and although the weight may tell, it is worth risking at the huge odds. E/W.
6:10 Buckingham Palace Stakes
MUMS TIPPLE 33/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
Looking through the race I can’t help but put up MUMS TIPPLE at absolutely huge odds. This horse as a 2 year old was an impressive 11 length winner at York and then went for a Group 1 at Newmarket and then two group 1s and a 3 year old. Things never really materialised since his 11 length win but his turf handicap mark has plummeted from a then 115 to a now rated 96. Now take into consideration the 7lb claim of Alec Voikhansky who I don’t know a lot about, but it is worth risking at huge odds, and MUMS TIPPLE runs off a mark of 89. He has had one start this season at this course back in May when coming home 12th of 27 rated 99. He will come on for that run and now actually 10lb lower with the 7lb claim, you just never know. I would like to see him bounce out in front and play catch me if you can. I am happy to get involved at big odds as he is one of those horses who could just find his old form on a low handicap mark. E/W.
Good Luck
