Today we are giving out free tips in 2 races.
3:00 Ascot
FRESH 9/1 generally – 0.75 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
KING ZAIN 14/1 generally – 0.75 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
We have 2 selections in this race.
I am convinced the place to be here is drawn middle to high and even more confident that those drawn right against the stands side, will find even faster ground.
FRESH was sent off 4/1 for the Stewards Cup at Royal Ascot and given he was drawn completely on the wrong side, he did well to come home 9th of 26. Now he is drawn on the right side and where the pace is coming, I would be very surprised if FRESH could not make the frame at the very worst. He has had 3 runs this season and has not run a back race. Now rated 98 the same as at Royal Ascot and given this race is not as strong as the Stewards Cup, the price on offer looks like decent value. E/W.
KING ZAIN is a big strong horse who is drawn in 21 of 22. He is right against the rail and given he likes to be prominent, I have no doubt he will be able to grab the rail and possibly get away from them out in front. I really like Roger Charlton in handicaps like this and KING ZAIN joined him from Mark Johnston back in January. He has had 2 runs for his new trainer, both on the All Weather, coming home 2nd and then winning with ease at Kempton. His last race was back in May so they have kept him fresh for this race. He is back to the grass which is no problem as his form last season on turf was decent, running in a couple of group 2s. He is bred very well and I am sure Roger Charlton would have worked his magic with this horse. Like Fresh I can’t have him out of the frame particularly from where he is drawn. E/W.
Bless Him is a horse I like but after following him off a cliff, we finally got our money from him 2 weeks ago and although I think he can go well, I feel he is drawn on the wrong side for this so I am happy to take him on.
3:35 Ascot
MISHRIFF 7/2 generally – 1 POINT WIN
MISHRIFF must have been one of the unluckiest losers of a race this season, in the Eclipse last time out and if he runs the same race, he goes close. He was 2nd in this race last season to Adayar and although he has to give weight away to the likes of Westover and Emily Upjohn, I have no doubt he is classier, although we will have to find out if the weight is too much to give away. At the current price I am happy to pay to find out given the class this horse possesses. The other 2 mentioned have to raise their game again whereas we already know how good MISHRIFF is. WIN.
