2:25 Goodwood
PRIMO BACIO 15/2 generally – 0.75 POINTS E/W (6 places William Hill and Sky Bet)
HELLO YOU 12/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (6 places William Hill and Sky Bet)
We have 2 selections in this race.
I can’t see them watering the track again this evening so with that in mind and the ground described as good, it should dry out too good to firm given the forecast is dry, tonight and into tomorrow. This will suit PRIMO BACIO who has been running in much better races than this, this season. Last time out she ran in the group 1 Falmouth Stakes giving weight away to the likes of Inspiral. She is just not in the same league as them when giving away 9lb. Her penultimate start was at Royal Ascot when a decent 3rd in the Duke Of Cambridge to Saffron Beach and a repeat of that run would see her go close. She is a horse who wants a fast pace and looking through the field, she is likely to get that pace. At the price and given she is down in class, she can have a say at the prices. E/W.
HELLO YOU was last seen at Royal Ascot when coming home 8th of 15 in the Jersey Stakes. I do think that performance can be marked up a little though as she was slow away from the gates, still travelled well, the gaps closed but still came home midfield. She could have easily placed had the race gone to plan and if she did, she would not be the price she is. If we go back to her 2 year olds days she had some strong form when 2nd and 3rd to Sandrine who went and won at Goodwood today. She was even a group 2 winner at Newmarket as a 2 year old. This season she has had 3 runs, a 3rd to Cachet who went on to win the 1000 guineas, she was well beaten in the 1000 guineas but 1m is not her trip and we have already discussed her last start at Royal Ascot. We will need things to go right for her but I have seen worse 12/1 shots in my time.
6:40 Galway Plate – Wednesday – Galway
EASY GAME 11/1 generally – 1 POINT E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
I have gone over this race and looked at every possible angle you can imagine and I keep coming back to the Willie Mullins trained, EASY GAME. He is top weight and has it all to do but he ran in this race last year, coming home an excellent 2nd, rated 158, carrying 11st 9lb. This time around he is rated 160 and carrying 3lb more at 11st 12lb, but I think he is a better horse this year. In 2022 he is unbeaten in 4 races and those wins include Grade 2 and Grade 3 wins, beating some very good horses in the process. Last time out at Tramore he jumped superbly and it was a nice prep race for the Galway Plate. He has been trained to the minute for this race, I think you can tell that from his form and the fact his first start in 2022 came in April. He loves better ground and I am very confident he goes very close. Jack Foley takes the ride and claims a valuable 3lb. E/W.
Good Luck
