THUNDEROUS 11/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W ( 5 places, 1/5 odds)
THUNDEROUS has it all to do carrying top weight but this is a rather weak looking handicap and we are talking about a horse who has been running in group races in his last 11 starts. In fact this is the first time he has run in a handicap I feel he may just be too classy for these. He was 2nd to Stradivarius at this course back in May and only went down by 1 length and last time out you found him running in the group 1 Goodwood Cup. This is a big drop from a Group 1 to a handicap and the booking of Ryan Moore is very eye-catching. THUNDEROUS seems to like it around York with a 1st and a 2nd from 3 starts at the course. Should be thereabouts. E/W.
