FLIGHT DECK 5/1 generally – 1 POINT WIN
FLIGHT DECK was twice a winner for us last season and although now an 8 year old, I still think he is improving. He is a very lightly raced 8 year old with just 10 career starts and 4 wins to his name. He ran just 3 times last season with his final start coming last December when winning a decent handicap at Carlisle, off a handicap mark of 133. He has now gone up to 136 but that is still within his range. FLIGHT DECK also goes very well fresh. He was a winner back in 2020 after coming back from a 404 day layoff. He was also a winner for the first time up last season when coming back from a 235 day layoff. He comes here following a 328 day layoff and now could be the time to catch him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was to win here and go straight to the Cheltenham Festival given how well he goes fresh. We could have gone each way to play it safe but given he has won 4 races and finished unplaced in his other races, he is the type of horse who wins or finishes outside the places so going straight win seems the best way to play FLIGHT DECK.

FRODON 5/2 generally (7/2 Bet 365) – 1.5 POINTS WIN
A little bit gutted. I missed the price on FRODON if truth be told and the value has gone but at 5/2 – 11/4, the price is about right so I am still happy to get involved. I have gone over this race a million times trying to get him beat but I am finding it very hard. The main reason is I know he would have been trained to the minute for the Champion Chase at Down Royal tomorrow, as if it was his Gold Cup. The only reason he is not going there is because of the soft ground. Now we are left with a horse running in a handicap who has been absolutely primed for Grade 1 Chase. There really should only be one winner here and FRODON is going to be very hard to beat. He rated 158 which is 6lb lower than what he was rated at the Cheltenham Festival in March. We know he is going to go from the front and we know he is going to jump his rivals into the ground. Obviously the big weight is a concern and could be his undoing but I just think his class is going to get him through. He is 10 times a better horse than these and a front running track like Wincanton is right up his street. Only one winner here, COME ON FRODON.
