A lovely winner yesterday with Hurricane Harvey going in at 6/1 under an excellent Jack Hogan ride.
Don’t forget you can still get the remainder of the National Hunt Season for £45.00.
We have tips in 3 races today but are giving out 1 of them for free.
1:30 Wincanton
KILTEALY BRIGGS 11/2 generally – 0.5 PTS E/W (2 places, 1/4 odds)
I have gone over this race for what seems like forever. I have looked at all different angles and have also thought about those who are possibly being ‘looked after’ with future races in mind to protect their handicap mark. With the rain falling tonight and then quite heavy in the morning at Wincanton, the ground will be soft and possibly heavy. This is going to suit some and I am of the opinion that given the race is going to be a test, horses like Elixir De Nutz and Magic Saint, who are more known over 2 mile trips, may not see this race out. There is also plenty of pace in the race so this could turn into a real test of stamina.
I do think Celebre D’Allen would be a big danger if the real Celebre D’Allen turns up but I have a theory that he is being prepped for the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival and they could be looking after his handicap mark. I may have it wrong and he could hose up but given he is a bit skinny at 5/2, he is worth taking on.
The two I have narrowed it down to are Messire Des Obeaux and KILTEALY BRIGGS. The trouble I have with Messire Des Obeaux is the fact he is very fragile and always seems to be coming back from injuries. I just wonder what affects all these injuries have had on him, although no doubt he will be a very fit horse as they won’t want to risk any further injuries.
At the prices the one that stands out to me is KILTEALY BRIGGS. He is not the fastest horse but he can gallop and is a tough and genuine horse. He will love the soft ground, he stays that bit further and he likes to get on with things. He will make this race a test and if he gets into a nice rhythm out in front, he could take some catching. When others are out on their feet, he will keep plugging and it is that sort of style which wins you races, in heavy ground. I am happy to play him each way and pick up quarter odds if he does come 2nd.
Good Luck
