PAINT THE DREAM 9/4 generally – 1.25 POINTS WIN
An excellent looking race and you could make a strong case for about 3 or 4 of these but I am siding with last year’s winner, PAINT THE DREAM who won the race by a huge 15 lengths. He just loves it around Newbury and is 3 from 4 at the course. Good ground or soft ground, it doesn’t matter to him, he just seems to get into a nice rhythm around the course and I would be very surprised if he was not in the mix. PAINT THE DREAM along with Zanza have to give lumps away to the field but 11st 11lb didn’t stop our selection last year so we know he can carry weight no problem. I think the main danger will be Zanza who is also a course specialist and is 5 from 5 around Newbury. I just feel Zanza wants to go further these days and the step back in trip will go against. He has also gone up the handicap a huge 15lb from his last start which might find him out. WIN.

COLONEL MUSTARD 7/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (5 places, 1/5 odds)
It must be top weight day for the JPW Racing Tipster as so far all our tips have been top weight. COLONEL MUSTARD is rated 143 but Kieran Buckley claims 3lb, bringing his weight and mark down slightly. The Lorna Fowler trained horse is back over hurdles after 2 runs over fences but bumped into 2 good horses in El Fabiolo (current arkle fav) and Hollow Games, another very decent horse. Even though he ran with credit over fences, I don’t think he looked the most natural and a return to smaller obstacles is where he wants to be. COLONEL MUSTARD was 2nd to Jonbon, 3rd to Sir Gerhard, 3rd in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and 7th in a Grade 1 Novice Hurdle. It shows last season he was a Graded Novice over hurdles and that form in the County Hurdle behind State Man, only beaten 3 lengths, looks absolutely rock solid. This race is nowhere near as hot as the County Hurdle so I don’t expect the big weight to inconvenience too much, although it is obviously not ideal. He has coped well with big fields in the past and with 5 places on offer, he should fill the places at the very least. E/W.
Good Luck
