TAGABAWA 11/2 with William Hill and Bet 365 – 0.75 POINTS E/W (5 places, 1/5 odds)
Charlie Appleby has a horse in TAGABAWA who I believe is a group horse running in a handicap. I was very impressed with how he went clear at Kempton in April, showing an excellent turn of foot and they have clearly kept him off the turf to protect his handicap mark. He is rated 97 but I think he could turn out to be a 110 horse at best, meaning he could be well in on the handicap. He has so much progression to come and I would be very surprised if he did not go very close. E/W.

SUBJECTIVIST 10/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (4 places, 1/5 odds)
If the SUBJECTIVIST who won this race in 2021 turns up, he wins it with ease. The trouble is he probably is not the same horse but at the same time, does he need to be? I don’t think this is a particularly strong Gold Cup and he might just be coming back to best. He had a few problems after winning this race in 2021 by 5 lengths, and was on the sidelines for nearly 2 years (618 days). He returned in February when well beaten in Saudi Arabia but returned at Meydan for the Dubai Gold Cup, coming home 3rd to another of today’s runners in Broome over 2 miles. With that run under his belt, it should have put him spot on for this race and he clearly loves the trip, so a step up to 2m 4f is only going to help. He will race prominently so will have no traffic problems and I expect him to try and steal the race, like he did in 2021 when they come around the bend. He is as tough as they come and he could be very hard to peg back. E/W.
Good Luck
