FIRST FLOW 7/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (3 places, 1/5 odds)
An interesting race and one in which I am happy to side with the old boy FIRST FLOW. He is not getting any younger at the age of 11 so with these type of horses and their age, you don’t get many chances to win with them and certainly can’t plan for later in the season. For that reason I am confident Kim Bailey with have FIRST FLOW super fit and ready to run a race of his life. After all £56k goes to the winner and it is not a prize to be sniffed at. FIRST FLOW is a grade 1/2 horse running in a handicap and when you see this in horses, more often they go very close. Given he is a former grade 1 and grade 2 winner, who just loves going right handed, particularly at Ascot, I think he is very much overpriced. His form at the course reads 23113F and that includes winning the 2021 Clarence House Chase. I expect David Bass to go fast and hard from the front and make this a true stamina test. He should place at the very least. E/W.

GREYVAL 14/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (4 places, 1/5 odds)
I have this horse down as one of my handicappers to follow this season and at big odds I am very much looking forward to getting involved. She is rated 121 and I think she could be a good few pounds ahead of the handicapper. GREYVAL had 4 starts last season, winning two before ending up in a Grade 1 at Aintree on her final start of the season. They clearly think she is a decent horse or they would not have been sending her to grade 1 company. Even though she won twice last season, she was still a bit green and you could see she still had lots more improvement to come. Despite her greeness she travelled supremely well through her races and looked a class act. She is in against the boys here but is right near the bottom of the handicap with just 10st 7lb on her back and this is Paddy Brennan’s only ride of the day at Ascot tomorrow. E/W.
