LUCCIA 11/1 generally – 1 POINT E/W (5 places, 1/5 odds)
PUNTUATION 16/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (5 places, 1/5 odds)
 
We have 2 selections in this race.
 
LUCCIA is rated just 137 and I think she is extremely well handicapped, one of the best handicapped horses in training if truth be told. She is very classy and I just can’t help but think she is way ahead of the handicapper. She was top class on her first two starts over hurdles last season and turned up at the Cheltenham Festival as the red hot 6/4 fav for the Mares Novice Hurdle. She ran well enough to come home 4th but did miss a few hurdles. She then went to Aintree for another Grade 1, coming home an excellent 3rd to Inthepocket. 
She had a nice lung opener a couple weeks ago at Wetherby coming home 2nd to You Wear It Well and that form looks excellent. That race would have put her spot on for this and I can’t help but think the price is absolutely huge. E/W.
 
I am also having a cover bet on PUNCTUATION who just keeps progressing and is as tough and genuine as they come. A surprise 40/1 winner last year at Aintree last season, beating a decent horse in Blueking D’Oroux. She then had a run on the flat last month which resulted in a win and would have put him spot on for this race. It was a clever move from trainer Fergal O’Brien by running on the flat as it protects his handicap mark over hurdles. You can almost guarantee PUNCTUATION will come wide under a Paddy Brennan ride and do all his good work late in the race. The Cheltenham hill will be appreciated and I am expecting a big run. E/W.
