CORACH RAMBLER 15/2 generally – 1 POINT E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
DELTA WORK 20/1 generally – 0.6 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
GALVIN 50/1 generally – 0.4 POINTS E/W(6 places, 1/5 odds)
The big race of the day, the Grand National and we found the winner last year. We will go in with 3 selections.
We were on CORACH RAMBLER last year and I couldn’t believe he went off 8/1 that day. I can’t believe he is 15/2 this time around after winning this race last year and finishing 3rd in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Gerri Colombe went and boosted the form yesterday and although he is 13lb higher this season, he won with so much in hand last season, it is hard to see why he won’t go close again with a clear round of jumping. The ground continues to dry out and that will suit him and besides, he was 3rd in the Gold Cup on soft ground which was no problem for him. I could go on and on but CORACH RAMBLER is as solid a chance you will get in a National as he ticks every box. I am very confident going into the race or as confident as you can when it comes to a Grand National. E/W.
DELTA WORK was 3rd in this race back in 2022 and he will come into the race a fresh horse. He would have been trained to perfection for the Cross Country at the Cheltenham Festival and that race was abandoned. It means that gruelling race would not have left his mark and surely that can only be a good thing for the Grand National. I like Cross Country horses in the National as they are the perfect type and have a good record in the race. DELTA WORK is not getting any younger but he is now down to a mark of 157 which is 2lb lower than last year he unseated the ride when still travelling well and 3lb lower than 2022 when 3rd in the race. No doubt he stays and I think he has an excellent each way chance. E/W.
GALVIN was also trained with the Cross Country in mind and similar to Delta Work, he comes here as a fresh horse which will do him no harm. Slight concerns about the ground but with it drying out, the better chance he will have. He stays all day long so the trip will be perfect as he showed when winning the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival a few years ago. He is on a mark of 155 which looks very workable given he ran in this race last year off a mark of 166. It means he is 11lb lower this time around. He is a big price at 33/1 and I would not be surprised to see him go well. E/W.
