5:00 Ascot
QIRAT 11/1 Paddy Power and Sky Bet – 0.5 POINTS E/W (7 places with both bookies)
I have been lining up QIRAT for this race since the start of May when he was 2nd at Ascot in the Victoria Cup over 7f. QIRAT is up to 1 mile and first time blinkers are applied, which I am convinced will do the trick. He is drawn in 21 and although we don’t know where the draw bias will come from, when the ground is riding quick, it is often an advantage to be drawn high.
Furthermore Colin Keane now rides all of Juddmonte first string so he takes the ride on QIRAT and I am very hopeful he can get an extra tune out of the horse. QIRAT also run in this race as a 3 year old and came home 6th last season. A year on, a year older and you have to expect improvement. In fact I know he has improved and although he is up to a handicap mark of 102, I feel he could be a group horse running in a handicap.
QIRAT has a touch of class and a change of gear to go with it. With 7 places on offer with those listed above, he surely makes the frame at the very least. E/W.
