TRAWLERMAN 3/1 generally – 1.5 POINTS WIN
My NAP of Royal Ascot is TRAWLERMAN and given he is my strongest fancy of the week, I have to practice what I preach and raise the stake. TRAWLERMAN does not have Kyprios to contend with this year and given how well he ran in this race last season, coming home 2nd, beaten just 1 length to Kyprios, I think it is his race to lose this time around. Aiden O’Brien does have Illinois in the race who is the short priced favourite but he has never been beyond 1m 7f. Although I do think he will stay further, 2m 4f at the very top level is going to test him that is for sure.
TRAWLERMAN we know as he nearly won the race last year and inside the furlong marker he nearly passed Kyprios with the 3rd a further 5 lengths back.
TRAWLERMAN had a lovely prep race for this when winning at Sandown and the further they went, the further he pulled clear.
I am just very strong on TRAWLERMAN here and if he gets beat, he gets beat, but no denying how strongly I fancy him.
I actually make him a 7/4 shot as it is not as if he has gone backwards since finishing 2nd in this race last year.
He loves it around Ascot and in fact has actually beat Kyprios once on Champions Day back in 2023.
He is now a 7 year old but I think he deserves a race like this and is going to take some stopping. WIN.
