3:00 Cheltenham
UN SENS A LA VIE 15/8 generally – 1.5 POINTS WIN
Feels like the world has gone Dan Skelton mad and any horse he puts in a race at Cheltenham goes off favourite or are shorter than they should be. The form book says otherwise with Fortune De Mer (at time of writing 11/4) who was beaten on debut over hurdles and will need to improve massively to upset UN SENS A LA VIE in my opinion.
I think Nigel and Willy Twiston Davies have a proper horse on their hands with UN SENS A LA VIE, I really think he has the potential to go right to the top if they look after him properly. The Twiston Davies family have had some great horses over the years but they have been guilty of over-running them in the past and I just hope they look after this one. Run him here, possibly at the November meeting and then one more run before Cheltenham.
To be fair, they have looked after him to this point as they purchased him after winning a point to point in October 2024. He had one run last season at Market Rasen in a bumper, winning with ease and that was it for the season.
He made his debut over hurdles at the same course 10 days ago and what a start it was. He had plenty left in the tank despite making a mistake 2 hurdles out. He has a lovely stride on him, a stride which will do well at a course like Cheltenham, with the undulations. I also think he stays that bit further so the Cheltenham hill will also play to his strengths.
I imagine Sam Twiston Davies will go from the front and keep it simple and keep upping the pace.
Apart from any mishaps I am quietly confident he wins this race and wins it well. WIN.
