DEL MARO 6/1 William Hill, 11/2 generally – 1 POINT WIN
A very interesting race where the Derby favourite leads the way and heads the market. It won’t be the first leading Aiden O’Brien horse to be turned over this week and maybe the prices are a bit out. We still have everything to do to beat the favourite, but DEL MARO looks like a huge price coming into this race a fit horse.
He was beaten only two lengths by the classy Pierre Bonnard last season and he clearly trained on as DEL MARO was an easy winner at Yarmouth last month. He travelled well, he quickened and did everything you would want to see from a horse having its first start of the season.
That fitness edge could be crucial here and his breeding suggests the step up in trip will also bring significant improvement.
