THE TOWER – IRISH DERBY ANTEPOST TIP

It’s looking like the race nobody wants to win at present with The Irish Derby losing market fav US Army Ranger today and huge doubts surrounding fellow jolly Harzand.

As punters, we’ve been given a great opportunity for some value here while the bookies are on the backfoot and I’m advising a play on RED VERDON at 10/1 before that prices disappears.

Connections have shown clear intent by stumping up €100,000 to supplement the colt following his run in the Derby at Epsom where he got no kind of run at all back in sixth place. He was constantly checked that day and Silvestre De Sousa had to slam the breaks on at key times before bringing him home without roughing him up.

The very fact his team are spending the big money to come here shows the faith they have in this horse setting the record straight and, should Harzand defect within the coming hours, he won’t be far off the head of the market. Even if Harzand runs, there seems significant doubt over how potent he will be with Dermot Weld admitting the race has come a week too early for his Epsom hero.

It really makes the 10/1 about Red Verdon look great value and he should relish the galloping test of the Curragh and be bang there on the scene.
