York Ebor Festival Review
So after a bad first 2 days at York Ebor Festival we clawed it back and came out with a steady profit of 5 Points to make it 28 out of 34 festivals in profit.
Some of the results were frustrating but we finished with a lovely Saturday with a few winners coming away happy in the end.
Below you will find results from our tips and underneath that is a review along with horse’s to follow.
Our next festival is the St Leger Festival from Doncaster where they host 4 days of top class racing and ends with the St Leger on the Saturday. You can book your place today for £8.99 for the whole 4 days on the payment page next to this post.
New members also get the chance to sign up for the month half price at £15.
I hope you enjoy the read and make sure you make a note of the horse’s to follow.

DAY 1 YORK EBOR FESTIVAL
Day 1 really was a disaster and I would be the first to admit that.
1:55 Symphony Group Stakes
SELECTIONS : BOWSON FRED 11/1 0.5 POINTS E/W, ROBOT BOY 14/1 0.5 POINTS E/W, Move In Time 16/1 0.5 POINTS E/W.
We didn’t get off to the best start as neither could factor. ROBOT BOY went off way to freely and he paid the price in the closing stages. MOVE IN TIME was never close enough to strike a blow and looks to be in the hand’s of the handicapper at the moment. BOWSON FRED travelled well for the first half of the race but another who looks to be in the hand’s of the handicapper.
CONCLUSION : The winner Boom The Groom made it 2 wins on the bounce and given fast ground you have to respect him. Possibly going to go up the handicap a bit to much on his next start to even think about following but given the right condition’s will have to be respected. If I had to take one horse out of the race then it would have to be LINE OF REASON who travelled supremely well throughout. I am sure he will be winning before the season is out.
2:30 Tattersalls Acomb Stakes
SELECTION : BEAR VALLEY 9/2 1 POINT WIN
The horse looked half the horse he was at Goodwood and simply got outclassed. I thought he would improve further but was not good enough to do that. Looks a handicap horse at best.
CONCLUSION : I wouldn’t really take any horse’s out of this race going forward. None really look like they could strike a blow at Group 1 or Group 2 agains the best horse’s around. Depends where they all go next but if they are stepped up in class I am afraid I would be against them all.
3:05 Great Voltigeur Stakes
SELECTION : ACROSS THE STARS 10/3 1 POINT WIN
Our selection ran with his head to the side the whole way through. This was not ideal against some very good horses. He did look a little one paced in the final stages. A step up in trip will help but not a horse I would be rushing to back.
CONCLUSION : The winner IDAHO won well in the end and looks a horse who will appreciate a step up in trip. I think the St Leger looks to be on the cards next in which he is as short as 7/4. I wouldn’t be rushing to back at that price but he is going to a very hard horse to beat.
3:40 Juddmonte International Stakes
SELECTIONS : THE GREY GATSBY 14/1, MUTAKAYYEF 14/1
We were very unlucky here not to get more out of the race as Mutakayyef may have gone much closer had the winner Postponed not come all the way across his line. We had to settle for E/W money in the end but it was a case of what might have been. The Grey Gatsby was beat a long way out and not one I will be interested in next time unless he is dropped in class.
CONCLUSION : POSTPONED is a fine horse and looks to be on his way to the Arc in which he is 9/2 favourite. I took him on as I thought he wasn’t primed for this task but come Arc day he will be spot on. The horse I will be taking out of the race is our selection MUTAKAYYEF who seems to be getting better with each run. We may still even get some value on his next start.
4:20 Fine Equinity Stakes
SELECTIONS : RENNETI 10/1, ESHTIAAL 14/1
This was the end to a really bad day. ESHTIAAL ran a solid race just finishing outside the frame and RENNETI never got involved. I think Renneti is a better horse than his finishing position but just didn’t turn up on the day.
CONCLUSION : OCEANE was actually there to be backed but has not put 2 runs together in quick succession so I went against. Does look like improving further and given the right ground could win next time out.
YORK EBOR FESTIVAL DAY 2
Day 2 was a bit of an unlucky day with 2 2nds and a 3rd for E/W money.
1:55 Goff’s Premier Yearling Stakes
SELECTIONS: RAINBOW MIST 7/1 0.5 Points E/W, RUSUMAAT 7/1 0.5 POINTS E/W.
RAINBOW MIST didn’t get involved and although I thought a step up in trip would help it clearly didn’t work. RUSUMAAT finished 2nd for E/W money and simply bumped into a very progressive horse.
CONCLUSION : The winner Stormy Clouds is improving with each and the step up in trip certainly helped. I think RUSUMAAT has a race in him and I am interested to see where he goes from here.
2:30 Lowther Stakes
SELECTION : NATIONS ALEXANDER 28/1 0.5 POINTS E/W
Nation’s Alexander finished just outside the frame in 4th place and it was as decent run for our money at a big price. Obviously not as classy as the top 3 but could win a few races if in the right company.
CONCLUSION : The upset of the week with FAIR EVA getting turned over. It was the other Frankel horse who spoilt the party Queen Kindly who was very impressive, quickening up nicely. I think a step up in trip is the answer for FAIR EVA and although Queen Kindly will be winning again it is FAIR EVA who may become the value next time out.
3:05 Clipper Logistics Stakes
SELECTIONS: CHIL THE KITE 16/1 0.5 POINTS E/W, RED NAPOLEON 14/1 0.5 POINTS E/W, ONE WORD MORE
The only one who got near for us was RED NAPOLEON who came home 3rd for E/W money.
CONCLUSION : The winner Firmanent looks a horse who is improving fast. Our selection Red Napoleon is also on the upgrade and may be worth following next time out.
3:40 Yorkshire Oaks
SELECTION : FIRGLOW 28/1 0.25 Points E/W
Fireglow was not good enough it is as simple as that. Still think she was a big price but totally outclassed.
CONCLUSION : The winner Seventh Heaven was very impressive and she looks a top class filly. She beat Found easily and is a horse going places.
4:20 Galtres Stakes
SELECTION : TO ETERNITY 7/1 0.5 POINTS E/W
TO ETERNITY ran a great race in 2nd for more E/W money on the day.
CONCLUSION : The winner was Abingdon but it is our selection TO ETERNITY who I would be more keen on next time. She looks progressive type with this being only her 3rd run.
YORK EBOR FESTIVAL DAY 3
After some hard luck stories on the first 2 days we finally go off the mark with a winner.
1:55 Sky Bet Special Stakes
SELECTIONS : BARSANTI 5/1 1.5 POINTS E/W, GOLD PRINCE 10/1 0.5 POINTS E/W, ODEON 20/1 0.5 POINTS E/W
BARSANTI stuck his neck out and won the race in a tight finish. We were due some luck and this was the turning point with a 1.5 POINTS E/W bet landed. Gold Prince and Odeon finished down the field.
CONCLUSION : BARSANTI is still improving but may be in the handicappers grip these days. The horse I would actually take out of the race is STARS OVER THE SEA who was impeded with in the last furlong. He actually may have gone close in the finish.
2:30 Lonsdale Cup
SELECTION : TRIP TO PARIS 1.5 POINTS WIN
TRIP TO PARIS didn’t even get close which was a shame as I was quietly confident.
CONCLUSION : Annoying winner with Quest For More winning this race. He is a horse I have been following for sometime but after some terrible run’s I went against him. Wouldn’t be rushing to back anything next time out from this race.
3:40 Nunthorpe Stakes
SELECTIONS : YALTA 10/1 1 POINT E/W, EASTON ANGEL 1 POINT E/W
I was confident going into this race that our horses would get involved but it was not to be. They were both beaten easily. I think both are better than what they showed but on the day they didn’t turn up.
CONCLUSION : Fair Play to Mecca’s Angel winning the race for the 2nd time in 2 years. She won with ease and put her previous lacklustre performances behind her. She won going away from a very good field. The horse I would take out of the race is LIMATO when he is stepped back up to 6f. 5f was too short but I am sure on his next start he will be going up in trip.
YORK EBOR FESTIVAL DAY 4
The day it all came together which had been coming all week. Another festival behind us and another profitable one.
1:45 Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Stakes
SELECTIONS : ODE TO EVENING 0.5 POINTS E/W, SNOANO 0.5 POINTS E/W
Neither got involved and both were way down the field. Got this one wrong hands up in the air.
CONCLUSION : The winner Scarlet Dragon actually finished behind Ode To Evening last time so I am not sure our horse ran to his full potential. I wouldn’t really take anything out of the race.
2:15 Strensall Stakes
SELECTIONS : SCOTTISH 1.5 POINTS WIN, DIPLOMA 1.5 POINTS WIN
I said I thought this was a 2 horse race and it was nice to get a decent winner on the board.
CONCLUSION : The fact SCOTTISH was running for the 2nd time in 1 week told me they felt hard done by last weekend when finishing 2nd. He won this race easily in the end. DIPLOMA dissapointed and I cant help but think he is a better horse than his finishing position suggests. I would keep my eye on that horse as we may get a decent price next time out.
3:25 Gimcrack Stakes
SELECTION : BLUE POINT 3 POINTS WIN
BLUE POINT was my NAP of the week and a big 3 points stakes which we lumped at 9/4 the night before.
CONCLUSION : It is always nice to see the NAP landed and that makes it 4 winning festival NAPS in a row. BLUE POINT is a very classy horse and has the world at his feet. He blew the field apart and quickened up nicely. A horse to follow for sure.
4:00 York Ebor
SELECTION : QUICK JACK 1 POINT E/W
QUICK JACK came home 3rd for some decent E/W returns.
CONCLUSION : A real shame we had the right trainer but wrong horse. I said I felt Tony Martin was plotting something but felt it was QUICK JACK who was the one to be on. It proved the wrong decision but I will take E/W profit everyday of the week if I had to.
