SATURDAY 7th MARCH FREE TIPS
We have two free tips today:
1:55 Ayr
TONTO’S SPIRIT 9/1 with Paddy Power and Betfair – 0.5 POINTS E/W (2 places, 1/4 odds)
I think TONTO’S SPIRIT is a decent price at 9/1. He is rated 135 and has to carry top weight, but is dropping down in class. He won’t mind the ground either as he has won 4 times on soft ground. He is a consistent horse who has had 8 starts over fences, winning 3 and coming home 2nd a further 3 times. He was a winner on his first start of the season when beating a decent horse in Nietzsche. He then went to Sedgefield and came home 2nd, giving away over a stone in weight. His last start was over 2 months ago when 4th of 7. He was simply outclassed that day against the likes of Marracudja, Hawk High and Eamon An Cnoic. We don’t have anything of that calibre in todays race and I can see him running a big race. E/W.
3:05 Ayr
THE CON MAN 5/2 generally – 1.5 POINTS WIN
I am quietly confident THE CON MAN can win this now back in a small field. He was an impressive winner at Kelso two starts back and was then sent to Ascot, for a very competitive handicap at Ascot, won by Nordano. He was sent off favourite and for a while travelled really well. He came home 5th of 15 and it was a good effort, which if repeated would surely win this. He is on the same mark as last time on 135 and I think given how progressive he is and with age on his side, he could be a tad better than 135. Brian Hughes is in the lead for the jockeys title and with Richard Johnson trying to hunt him, he is all out to get the winners. When riding horses like this he has to take full adavantage. WIN.
