MISTER FISHER 7/4 generally – 1.5 POINTS WIN
Only 4 runners for this Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase which is a shame given £45,000 is up for grabs. You would think it would attract a lot more. I have gone through this field and to me it looks like MISTER FISHER race to lose. Much will depend on his jumping as he can put in a bad one from time to time but with a clear round, I would be confident he is too good for these. Elorado Allen in my opinion is not as good as they make out. Defi Du Seuil on old form could win but we have not seen that in a while and looks on the downgrade while Rouge Vif is having his first try at the trip and is a horse who needs good ground to be seen at best. With all that in mind I make MISTER FISTER an 11/8 shot so we are sneaking out a bit of value at 7/4. Trainer Nicky Henderson has also won this race 3 times in the last 6 years. MISTER FISHER ran well in last season’s Ryanair but made some huge mistakes at the wrong time. He then went to Sandown and went down by just a neck to Frodon which is excellent form. He has had one start this season in the King George where travelled ok up to a point but just emptied and it was quite obvious he was a non stayer. Now back down in trip with a small field, this race is his for the taking but as I pointed out, it will all depend on his jumping. He is not a bad jumper, actually very good but can lose concentration sometimes. WIN.

CALL ME LORD 28/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (6 places, 1/5 odds)
MONTE CRISTO 33/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (6places, 1/5 odds)
I am going for two at big prices in this race both from the same owners.
CALL ME LORD returns back to hurdles which is going to be music to his ears. You could see he hated fences and the smaller obstacles will be such a relief for the horse. His 2 bad runs over fences have resulted in his handicap mark over hurdles dropping to a very workable 144. On his day he would demolish this field on that mark but we do have to take into consideration, he is not that same horse. Even so the price is just far too big to ignore, especially going right handed. You are talking about a horse who has won the International Hurdle at Cheltenham in the past and also won a handicap hurdle at Sandown carrying top weight and a mark of 143, just 1lb lower than today’s mark. James Bowen gets on very well with CALL ME LORD and was actually in the saddle for his International Hurdle win at Cheltenham. With 6 places on offer and a horse in CALL ME LORD who is a classy type, he looks a cracking bet. E/W.
MONTE CRISTO is just a 6 year old who has still not reached his peak. He was described last year as a bit of a baby so it is clear that he is far from the finished article. I actually can’t believe his price given MONTE CRISTO was a 7 length winner over course and distance in December 2020, when winning a similar handicap hurdle off exactly the same weight, but was rated 133. He is rated 139 for this race but he is more than capable of winning off that mark. He looked set to place at Cheltenham in the Coral Cup but for Blue Sari to fall and hamper him after the last hurdle. I am actually quietly confident of a big run here and the booking of Connor Brace is interesting, a jockey I rate highly. E/W.
Good Luck
