Thursday 28th July Free Tips
Today we are giving out free tips in 2 races all at very nice prices. They have been chosen at random from tips we have sent members in 5 races.
1:50 Goodwood
NATURAL WORLD 16/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (5 places, 1/5 odds)
SCHMILSSON 25/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W (5 places, 1/5 odds)
We have 2 selections in this race.
NATURAL WORLD is overpriced given his form behind New London last time when coming home 4th. New London is a short priced favourite for a group 3 tomorrow. NATURAL WORLD is very well bred being by Frankel and out of Skiffle. He has only had 4 career starts and was gelded back in May. His only run while gelded was the 5th last time out and he can improve again. He is rated 102 and although he has a big task on his hands, I can see him running a huge race. E/W.
If SCHMILSSON resorts back to his front running tactics that he has adopted on 3 of his 4 starts this season, he should go well. He will be able to grab the rail and while the others look for the gaps in behind, he will have a clear path in front of him. He was a good winner with these tactics at Bath in May and then went on to Ascot where he was a little outclassed off a mark of 92. He then went to Newmarket and was put at the back of the field, something he would have hated. He is now down to a mark of 88 and they have put up Calum Hutchinson to claim 5lb, bringing his mark down to 83. I am confident he is a better horse than 83 and although it all depends if he can get across from stall 11, it is a risk I’m willing to take. He will carry just 8st 4lb on his back. E/W.
3:00 Goodwood
MASSAKELA 18/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W
SUSSEX 50/1 generally – 0.5 POINTS E/W
We have 2 selections in this race.
New London is the short priced favourite but in my opinion at this level he is short enough and I can see a horse at a big price spoiling the party here.
MASSAKELA was 4th in the Epsom Derby and a repeat of that run would see him go close here. He flopped last time at Newmarket but didn’t look the easiest ride around a sometimes tricky course. This flat easy course should play to his strengths, as should the strong pace with the many front runners in the field. On his Derby form alone the price is far too big. E/W.
SUSSEX looks a big price and comes over from Ireland and I don’t think he has come all this way to make up the numbers, they clearly think he could go well. He was trained by Aiden O’Brien until he found new owners last week and switched trainers to Joseph O’Brien. SUSSEX is bred well and has always threatened to be a decent horse. He finally got his head in front at Navan 3 weeks ago and although he has to improve again, I think things may have finally clicked. Worth a play at a huge price in an open looking race. E/W.
