The start of Glorious Goodwood and I can’t wait to get going. We have a huge 5 days ahead of us and at the big festivals, more often than not, we deliver. In fact in the last 18 festivals we have come away with profit in 15 of them. Just 3 losing festivals inside the last year.

1:40 Goodwood
LORD RIDDIFORD 6/1 generally – 0.75 POINTS E/W (4 places, 1/5 odds)
A simple selection really with LORD RIDDIFORD who is basically a Goodwood Specialist and he would have been laid out for this race specifically. He has won this race for the last 2 years and this year he comes into the race on a mark of 84. He won the race in 2021 when rated 88, he won the race in 2022 when rated 87 and this year he is 3lb lower in the handicap on his mark of 84. He sneaks in right at the bottom of the handicap and any rain which has fallen will only enhance his chances. The ground was soft in 2021 and he absolutely bolted up in this race. I won’t be the only one to get involved with LORD RIDDIFORD as it is the obvious choice but sometimes we just don’t need to complicate things. E/W.
 
 
4:35 Goodwood
COLTRANE 10/3 generally – 1 POINT WIN
COLTRANE can turn the form around with Courage Mon Ami where they finished 1st and 2nd, just 3/4 of a length separating them. Take nothing away from the john Gosden horse and favourite of this race, she will no doubt be hard to beat but 2 miles on a different course, with COLTRANE being 1lb lower in the handicap, will be the deciding factor. COLTRANE has improved again this season with an easy win at Ascot back in May and an excellent 2nd at Royal Ascot. His form on this ground (good to soft) reads 1121 and he stays further. It will be a great race but at the prices I am siding with COLTRANE. WIN.
