First and foremost I hope you enjoyed the Goodwood Festival and the service JPW provided. Overall it was a profitable meeting yet again which has been the case at Cheltenham, Punchestown, Ascot and Newmarket so without being big headed it is just following suit.

Below is a lowdown of of the 5 days of Goodwood and where our horses finished. Included is a report of horses that a worth following on their next start.
DAY 1
Bet365.com Stakes
We had 2 selections in SALUTATION and WIGMORE HALL. I thought SALUTATION ran a great race to finish 3rd. Maybe his jockey Michael Murphy got a bit excited and went for home to early but as long as he stays on the same mark handicap mark he is one I will be keeping an eye on.
WIGMORE HALL for me is now finished. I thought I would give him one more chance with the handicap mark but unless he comes down at least another 7lb I would not be interested in backing again.
Bet 365 Summer Stakes
We had HAVANA COOLER and DASHING STAR in this race and to be fair both run very credible races. HAVANA COOLER was my big fancy and was gambled into 5/2 from the 9/2 we had the previous. It was a close finish and HAVANA COOLER went down by a neck. I will keep an eye on him but I expect he will go up a few pounds for that close 2nd and if he turned up at 5/2 in his next race I will be staying away. Still a horse for the Notebook.
The consistent DASHING STAR ran another sound race finishing just out of the frame in 4th place. He can never quite get his head in front but 1 thing you with this horse is that you definitely get a run for your money and will certainly be a horse to consider if the race is right.
Bet365 Stakes
SHOWPIECE and SKYTRAIN were our selections and a race which returned money to the bank. SKYTRAIN finished 3rd and we advised decent odds the night before at 18/1. He didn’t have the pace to go with the winners but held on for 3rd.
SHOWPIECE is getting even more frustrating as he again failed to bring it to the track and if I am being honest my patience with this horse is disappearing. Will keep an eye on his handicap mark but will need to weigh up the pros and cons of backing this one next time out.
DAY 2
Goodwood Stakes
We had LIEUTENANT MILLER and BROCKWELL in this race. We were unlucky with BROCKWELL who finished just outside the frame in 4th place but LIEUTENANT MILLER was really disappointing when he got pulled up 1f from home.
Neptune Investment Stakes
Great race for us where we had SNOW SKY and WINDSHEAR 1st and 2nd at 9/2 and 13/2. Like I stated in the write up that form of Hartnell was really strong and both put in top performances. I imagine both will go for the St Leger but if I am being honest I don’t think either will be good enough to win that race.
Breeding Winner Fillies Stakes
WATER HOLE was a non runner but I am keen to see where she goes next as she is highly thought of. Our other selection PRINCIPLE EQUATION was poor back in 12th place and I will not be rushing to back her next time out.
DAY 3
Fairmont Stakes
We were really unlucky with BRAIDLEY who put in a brave performance to finish just outside the frame in 4th. We advised 22/1 the night before so that was a little blow. Be keen to see where he goes next especially on the same mark or 1 or 2lb lower.
COLLABERATION was terrible and will not go near this horse.
Goodwood Cup
CAVALRYMAN was an amazing win for an 8 year old. A win I always new he had in him at 5/1. he has been a different horse this year and on the back of his last win I new he was in tremendous form. Will be hard to sustain this win as he is not getting any younger but be interesting to where he goes next.
BROWN PANTHER ran a game race in 3rd and I would be interested if he ran on ground a bit softer next time out.
Langtry Stakes
WAILA gave us a little bit of a return for e/w money at an advised 7/1. She bumped into a smart horse who I probably underestimated before the race. WAILA is still learning and would be keen to see where she goes next.
TALENT still can’t find the form that saw here claim the Oaks and is probably best watched for now.
DAY 4
Coutts Stakes
ENCKE ran a cracker for a horse who has been out for nearly 2 years. Personally think he may of won had Buick used his stamina instead trying to use speed a the end of the race. The 2nd was still credible after a run under his belt and next time out should be a lot fitter and sharper.
QUEST FO PEACE was simply outclassed and couldn’t find the form he has at the track previously.
Betfred Mile
MAGIC CITY ran a good race and only lost out by a neck. He had won the race the year before on the same handicap mark so the 14/1 on offer the night before was an insult. Will probably be raised for that 3rd but still interesting to see how he folds on his next start.
PASTORAL PLAYER was way down the field but his handicap mark will continue to fall making him hackable on his next start if the race is right. Will be keeping an eye.
King George Stakes
KINGSGATE NATIVE has now had it after watching the race. He has not got the legs anymore for the sprints and age has caught up on him.
G FORCE could still improve although he did look a little outclassed here. If lowered in class may be a bet next time out.
DAY 5
32redsport.com handicap
Both RUN WITH PRIDE and REGAL PARADE were non runners which is a shame as I was pretty keen on RUN WITH PRIDE. Will be keeping a close eye to where he goes next.
Stewards Cup
An amazing performance from INTRINSIC who won at an advised 8/1 the night before. As soon as I saw Richard Hughes not riding Hannon’s horse I knew he meant business and he looks like a Group horse in the making. He rounded our end to Goodwood with a good win.
HALLELUJAH was unlucky in my eyes as he came with a run and got squeezed in the last 1f. He should come further down the handicap which could make him a bet next time out.
CONCLUSION
Another good festival where we made a profit. Not to the heights of Ascot but
profit is profit. I will be running these on all big festivals and will keep you informed by email. Again should you require my services full time please visit www.jpwracingtipster.com where we offer a wide range of subscriptions.
